Suelen Naraísa, physical education professional by training, surfer by nature.
Born in Ubatuba, Brazil’s surf capital, Suelen grew up surrounded by the ocean. From the age of eight, she was already riding the waves of Ubatuba, inspired by her older brother and guided by a deep natural connection to the sea.
At just ten years old, Suelen was diagnosed with cancer and had to stay out of the water for a long period of her childhood. With the unwavering support of her family, she overcame this challenging chapter, and the very first chance she had, she returned to the ocean and to surfing.
By the age of 26, Suelen had become a two-time Brazilian Surf Champion and ranked second among Brazilian women on the world surf ranking. After achieving national titles and competing at the highest level, she felt a new calling emerge.
Her mission became clear: to share the indescribable feeling of “flying over water,” of gliding on a wave, and to introduce as many people as possible to the transformative power of surfing.
In 2005, at just 21 years old, Suelen founded her own surf school in Ubatuba, at Itamambuca Beach.
Itamambuca is widely considered the best surf beach in Ubatuba, offering waves for all levels, from complete beginners to professional surfers. Since its founding, Suelen Naraísa Surf School has taught over 5,000 people how to surf.
Beyond surf lessons, Suelen also organizes and leads women-focused surf events and experiences. These gatherings go far beyond the sport itself, offering moments of self-discovery, confidence building, connection with nature, deep learning, and meaningful community among women, all through the shared language of the ocean.
