I’m Joaquín “Joaco,” from Santiago Astata on the Chontal coast. Growing up in Playa La Colorada among local fishermen, I developed a deep love for the ocean. After studying away from home, I returned at 27 and discovered surfing, spending over 15 years as a tour leader and surf guide in the Salina Cruz and Huatulco area. I’m passionate about involving locals in tourism, creating opportunities for our communities while preserving our natural resources.
