The main surf season runs from April to October when consistent S–SW swells combine with offshore winds to create clean and hollow waves. Many breaks along this coast remain relatively uncrowded compared with other surf destinations in Mexico.
Trips typically move between Huatulco and Salina Cruz depending on conditions to ensure surfers score the best waves possible.

Unlike traditional surf camps, our trips are flexible surf missions that move between Huatulco and Salina Cruz depending on swell, wind and tides. This allows us to chase the best conditions each day and maximize time in the water.
Surfers can score long rides at famous breaks such as Punta Conejo, Punta Chivo or Punta Escondida Surf Camp, and other waves along the Oaxaca coastline. Warm water, consistent swell and relatively uncrowded lineups make this region one of the most exciting surf destinations in Mexico.
The trip includes comfortable accommodation with AC, three meals per day, and daily 4WD transport to reach the best surf spots. Local guides monitor the conditions and plan each day to help you find the best waves possible.

Best Time for a Surf Trip: April to October is prime surf season in Oaxaca, Mexico, with powerful southern hemisphere swells and manageable winds. Expect some of the best waves in the world with long, hollow rides at spots like Barra de la Cruz, Punta Conejo, and La Ventosa.
Offshore Winds & Swells: Swells come from the S-SW, and the winds during the surf season (April-October) are generally offshore, making the waves clean and powerful.
Rainy Season: From June to November, Oaxaca experiences occasional rain, but these short downpours often lead to glassy surf conditions, perfect for a peaceful surf experience away from the crowds.

After studying away from home, I returned at 27 and discovered surfing, spending over 15 years as a tour leader and surf guide in the Salina Cruz and Huatulco area.
